For the birds

Miami is an odd city. Those of us who live here know it. Dave Barry often says in speaking engagements that Miami is trapped under a magnet of weird.

Why do I say this? Because we are a major metropolitan city, known throughout the US and probably the world. We are known for our beaches, our parties, our clubs, drugs and crime. We are almost marketed as a Vegas on the beach, but without the casinos.

So what's the point of this post? With all that, people don't realize that Miami has another side. We, here at 305, like to point out those oddities that we come across, that don't involve the mainstream stereotypes (for the most part)

This post is about one of them. Within a 24 hour period (not even, more like 18 hours) I came across all of the following:

This chicken family also has a rooster, but he wouldn't get in the picture

Seriously, how can you not love this city?

(and yes, SocialVox this is one of my wildlife posts. Thanks for noticing that trend)

Nope, it was in Coral Gables/South Miami.

Shocking, right?

The chickens are explainable though... My house is near the land of endless botanicas....

Hey, I'm very appreciative of the nature posts. Even though I'm a native Miamian, you often capture areas that I have rarely frequented (Fairchild Gardens and the like, Key West flora and fauna, and N. Miami Beach). Keep it up, home skillet.
